ABOUT
Renegade Learners is an alternative, all-inclusive, secular learning cooperative for Central New Hampshire. It is a family style, community learning environment. This is not a drop-off program, parents/caregivers are expected to stay with children and participate. Because this is a new venture, admissions will be on an ongoing basis.
How it Works:
We meet as a whole group on the second and fourth Thursdays, 1-3 PM. These will be laid back gatherings, giving kids and adults time to socialize, get to know each other, and develop relationships. Because we are a new group, I’m offering my home in Sandwich (Moultonboro/Sandwich town line) as our meet up location for now. We can also meet at local playgrounds, parks, hiking trails, etc. that will all be noted in the google calendar that you gain access to once you join. All Thursday meetups will take place in Central NH (Sandwich, Moultonboro, Tamworth, Tuftonboro, Center Harbor, Ossipee, or surrounding towns).
There will also be a calendar of optional events, field trips, classes, clubs, community/outreach opportunities, etc. for families to pick and choose based on their interests and availability. These can take place anywhere.
There are 3 sessions per year
Session 1: October (12th and 26th), November (9th, and 23rd), December (14th and 28th)
Session 2: January (11th and 25th), February (8th and 22nd), March (14th and 28th)
Session 3: April (11th and 25th), May (9th and 23rd), June (13th and 27th)

How do you join?
In order for families to "join" the co-op, they have to commit to a session and contribute at least 2 planned activities:
One activity for a Thursday meetup AND
One activity to put on the calendar (that is not a Thursday meetup). A field trip, event, etc for that session.
Planned activities can be anything you can think of! It can be a one time event or something that meets multiple times.
Why meet every other Thursday? The goal is to make connections and develop relationships, so they need to see each other on a regular basis. By keeping things simple for these meetups, it gives kids the freedom to get to know one another at a pace that is comfortable for them. We won't have learning goals for these meetups.
Why the optional activities? This is where parents and kids get to follow their interests and plan trips and activities around what they are curious about, what they enjoy, and what they are good at. And because they are developing relationships on Thursday meetups, it will make the field trips, classes, activities that more enjoyable.
Activities can be anything you can think of! It can be a one time event or something that meets multiple times. Some suggested activities:
Seasonal Celebrations (Winter, spring, summer, fall)
Crafting
Lego Club
Community and outreach opportunities (Meals for families in need, Clothing Drive, Visits to nursing homes, Volunteering at animal shelters)
Book Club
Farm field trips
Community Garden
How to use the library
Field Day
Adventure club
Hiking Club
Biking club
Any club! Pick a topic or activity then plan 3 or 4 locations to meet up!
Yoga or any other physical activities!
Art Show
Science Fair
Please email [email protected] with questions or to get on the list to join!
